TOPIC: Divine Friendship (I) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 19 July 2019)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 23-25; Acts 21:18-40

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Numbers 12:1-10

MEMORY VERSE: “Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.” – John 15:15

The MESSAGE:

God is impartial. He loves us all with Agape love. However, not all human beings can be called God’s friends. There is a class of human beings that enjoys divine friendship. They are very close to God. They are members of His inner caucus. They have access to deep secrets and mysteries of the kingdom. They are seated with Christ in the heavenly places far above principalities and power. They are heaven’s ambassador plenipotentials. You will agree with me that not everybody is in this privileged and enviable level with God. God is impartial because everyone can attain this level if they prayerfully seek for it by following biblical prescriptions and road maps. Indeed, it is a wonderful thing to be God’s special friend. You should covet to be one.

Some Bible characters enjoyed divine intimacy and friendship. One of them was Moses. Exodus 33:11 says “And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.” Miriam and Aaron were Moses’ older siblings. They had played significant supportive roles in Moses’ ministry. However, on one occasion, they erred. They allowed jealousy and self-exaltation to take the better part of them. They spoke against Moses and condemned him for getting to the Ethiopian woman. They also wrongly placed themselves on the same pedestal with Moses. Numbers 12:2 says “And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.”

The truth is that we are not all in the same level of closeness or affinity with God. Some people are closer and dearer to God than others. You can be as close to God as you want to be as long as you are willing to pay the price of divine friendship and intimacy. Moses was not in the same class with Miriam and Aaron though they were older than he was. God said that Miriam and Aaron should have known better. He told the two seditionists what was special about Moses, “With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”

Beloved, God defends and fights for His friends. Moses did not know of the sedition, jealousy and verbal attacks of Miriam and Aaron, but God heard them. The anger of the Lord was kindled against Miriam and Aaron and Miriam became leprous. Beloved, do not speak against God’s anointed servant because God will hear and punish you for it. Touch not His anointed and do not harm His prophets.
