TOPIC: Unrighteous Anger (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 21 June 2019)

MEMORY VERSE:“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.” –Ephesians 4:26

The MESSAGE:

Anger is an emotion of instant displeasure on account of an offence. Every human has the capacity to be angry the same way we have the capacity to love. However, this emotion becomes sinful when causeless, excessive or protracted. Anger is a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure or hostility and can be very injurious to our relationships.

In our text today, Simeon and Levi slew the Shechemites in anger (Genesis 32:1-31). This was an unrighteous display of anger. In anger Cain slew Abel. That was also an unrighteous display of anger (Genesis 4:5-8). Moses’ anger and disobedience to divine instruction caused him not to enter into the Promised Land.

Destructive and unrighteous anger is described as a work of the flesh -Galatians 5:20. Do not look for justification for this kind of anger. It is an emotion that must be kept in check as a follower of Christ. One true mark of genuine Christianity is brokenness. God wants us to control our anger. Unrighteous anger breeds unforgiveness, scares away divine presence and it is a threat to peace in any life, home, community and nation.

In the fit of unrighteous anger, some parents cursed their children and mortgaged their own future. When the children they cursed did not succeed, their parents themselves suffered. Some marriages have broken due to unrighteous anger and some have become strained or destroyed for the same reason.

To get rid of unrighteous anger, we must know that, according to Matthew 5:22, all angry people will face God’s judgement. Confess this sin to God, learn to exercise patience before you speak or act. Finally, pray for the Holy Spirit’s intervention always.

ANGER DOESN’T SOLVE ANYTHING; IT BUILDS NOTHING BUT DESTROYS EVERYTHING.

You shall not destroy the good things you have built because of anger.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. I believe and confess that God has not given me the spirit of anger, in the name of Jesus.
2. I exercise faith and forgive completely, all those who have offended me, in the name of Jesus.
3. I bind and cast out the spirit of anger, in the name of Jesus.
   EVENING
4. Blood of Jesus, flush out hereditary anger from my life, in the name of Jesus.
5. Holy Spirit, overshadow my life and transform me inside out, in the name of Jesus.
6. I recover all that anger has stolen from me, in the name of Jesus.
7. O LORD, make me slow to speak, slow to anger, but swift to hear, in the name of Jesus.
