TOPIC: Pay Attention To Someone In Need (Seeds Of Destiny 19 March 2022)

SCRIPTURE: But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. Luke 10:33-34

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Love is about interrupting your schedule or journey to pay attention to someone in need.

I heard the pathetic story of a man who did not know that his wife was dying until the woman had almost few days to live. She had a terminal affliction but the man was not aware. They were living in the same home but were not talking to each other as they should because there was a strange woman in between them. The man said to his wife, “Take anything you want out of all the properties I have so you can go your way, and let me go my way”.

Then the woman said, “All I want is this: just carry me in your hands for thirty days the way you carried me on our wedding day. After that, I will let you go.” The woman said that because she did not want to die in bitterness. And the man did as she said, but before thirty days could expire, the man began to bond with his wife again. It was then the wife told him about the terminal disease, but it was already time for her to die because that was the time the doctors gave her.

That is the kind of world we live in. It is a world where someone has a challenge, not smiling and people around will not bother to find out what is wrong.

Beloved, love is about interrupting your schedule or journey to pay attention to someone in need like the Good Samaritan did (Luke 10:25-35). Every reasonable person has a schedule in life.

When was the last time you paused to attend to someone? Please do. You may save a life; you may prevent someone from committing suicide. You may deliver someone from a wrong relationship, a wrong business transaction, etc.

Remember this: Love is about interrupting your schedule or journey to pay attention to someone in need.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

  1. Move to the realm of practising love; meet someone’s need today.
  2. Think of someone you have not seen in church for a while, find out what the problem is and invite that person back to church.
  3. Refuse to live in bitterness.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to be a blessing to people around me and to my generation. Let the love of Jesus Christ flow through me, bringing joy to people, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

AMAZING FACT: A piece of brain tissue, the size of a grain of sand contains 100,000 neurons and 1 billion synapses, all communicating with each other. What a synergy!

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: As the love of God flourishes in your heart, may you begin to see the dividends of that love in Jesus’ Name.
