Topic: The Focus Of Thought

Let the Word of God fill your mind all the time; let it be the basis of your thought.

SCRIPTURE: This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Let the Word of God fill your mind all the time; let it be the basis of your thought.

In our previous studies, we explored the power of thought. We have established that thought determines results and destiny; thought fuels action and manifestation, amongst other things.

Having seen the power of thought, it is very important to look at the focus of thought. That is, what should we focus our thought on?

As children of God, our thought should be focused on the following:

  1. The Word of God.

Joshua 1:8 says, This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night…

The Word of God is a major focus of our thought as believers in Christ (Psalm 1:1-3). Therefore, put the Word of God in your mind. It can be the Word you receive when you listen to preached messages on CDs, DVDs, or the Word you read from a Christian book or the Bible. Let the Word of God fill your mind all the time; let it be the basis of your thought.

  1. The Works of God.

Psalms 119:99 says, I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.

The psalmist meditated on the works of God. That is, what God has done. The acts of God or what you see God do should be a focus of your thought (Psalms 77:12).

Think on what God has done in your own life. Think on what God has done in the lives of others. Think about the Almightiness of God. Fear dies and faith is activated when you think on the Acts of God.

  1. Think on the desirable and lovely.

Philippians 4:8 says, Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

The Living Bible says, “… Fix your thought on what is true and good and right….” (Philippians 4:8).

My counsel is, think on anything that is true, honest, just, pure, desirable and excellent. Don’t think on what you don’t want.

Remember this: Let the Word of God fill your mind all the time; let it be the basis of your thought.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Meditate on the Word of God continually.
  2. Think on the Works and Acts of God.
  3. Think on what is good, just, lovely and desirable.

PRAYER: Thank You Lord for showing me what to think about. I receive the grace to focus my thought on Your Word, Your Works and on what is desirable, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

AMAZING FACT: The average black garden ant has a lifespan longer than the average dog. The correct collective noun for a group of ants is a “swarm of ants”.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD: Fresh passion for meditation on the Word be released for you in this season in Jesus’ Name.
