Prove Them Wrong

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

Max Lucado once said, “Faith has to stuff cotton in its ears.” You have to learn to tune out the critics, the naysayers, and the negative voices. Albert Einstein flunked math in his youth and was labeled “a slow learner,” but he changed the world through his brilliance.

Theodor Geisel submitted books forty-three times, and forty-three times, he was told, “Your Book is not worthy of publishing.” But he tried one more time under a new name. He knew that his name was so bad that nobody would publish his books, so he changed his name to “Dr. Seuss.” Two hundred and ten million copies later, he proved them wrong and he was right.

Nothing is impossible when God tells you that you can do it. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who attended Morehouse College, made a very low grade in public speaking. His professor wrote in one of his speeches, “Martin, if you continue to use such lofty words and flamboyant language, you will never be very effective in public speaking.” This same zeal inspired a nation, and Dr. King went down in history as one of the greatest speakers America has ever known.

The older you get, the more the enemy wants you to settle, play it safe, and not take risks. He wants you to take it easy and not believe in anything greater. But that’s not how God made you. You are more than a conqueror and are meant to do great things in this world. Maybe you are thinking about giving up on your dream. 

In 2024, Brock Purdy, the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, was one of the lowest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL. Purdy was the 262nd overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The last player selected in the NFL draft is nicknamed “Mr. Irrelevant.” Purdy proved them all wrong and went on to lead the 49ers to Super Bowl LVIII. Purdy once said, “Whatever I’m doing, I know what my purpose is, and that’s in the Lord. That’s what my identity is in.”
