It’s Time To Stand Up (Part 2)
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21
When Peter took a stand for Jesus and preached to thousands of people that they needed to repent, he was not alone. Eleven disciples stood with him. Even if you are not a preacher, in these last days, you will need to take a stand for God. God can use anyone to bring revival to this world. Each of the disciples was different. Maybe you can see yourself in one of them?
There was a man named John who stood with Peter. John was known as the disciple that Jesus loved, and he also loved Jesus. John was in Jesus’ inner circle and was one of three who was invited to witness the miracle at the Mount of Transfiguration. He was there in Gethsemane when the mob came and arrested Jesus. He was there at the feet of Jesus at the cross, and Jesus even asked John to take care of his mother when he was gone.
Do you love Jesus like you did when you first got saved, or have you lost some of that passion? It’s time for you to quit being ashamed and worrying about what others think. You need to decide that you don’t need to be with any clique or in any place where you can’t feel free to love Jesus. Even if everyone in the neighborhood doesn’t want to associate with you, Jesus should be enough. You should want to come to church. You should desire to serve and give to the body of Christ. If you are ashamed of the gospel, you may have a heart issue. Pray to get your passionate love and fellowship back with Jesus. This world needs radical lovers of Jesus in order for a revival to come.
Secondly, there was Matthew, who was standing with Peter on that great day when revival hit. According to commentaries, Matthew was the richest disciple. He was a tax collector, and in those days, tax collectors would get a percentage of everything that came in. This man of great wealth stood beside the preacher. And if we want to see the kind of revival that they saw in Acts, we will need businessmen and women who are gifted at making money. God anoints these givers in the same way that He anoints a preacher. Their contributions finance the message of the gospel to go into all the world. The church needs “Matthews,” who will stand up and say, “I’m blessed to be a blessing.” It takes more than just a preacher to stir up a revival. God wants to use you!
