Why God Wants To Bless You

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” III John 1:2

God’s heart is to bless His children. There are three biblical reasons that He wants you to increase and be blessed. Number one is for your sake. He said in Malachi 3, “I will rebuke the devourer for your sake.” Second, He wants to bless you for His name’s sake. Isaiah 48:11 says, “For My own sake, for My own sake, I will do it; For how should My name be profaned? And I will not give My glory to another.” He wants to bless you because you represent His name in this world. Thirdly, He blesses you for the covenant’s sake. He promised Abraham and his descendants that He would bless them and increase them more than the stars in the sky. As Gentiles, we are grafted into that branch by the blood of Jesus Christ, and that blessing is now ours.

The enemy does not want you to increase because when you are blessed, it gives you influence with people. Job 29 tells how young men were silent when Job spoke, and old men came to the city’s gates to pay their respects. Job was known for his blessed life and used that influence to impact people for God. When people see you achieving and winning in life, you earn their ear, and they want to know what makes you so special. You can use that platform for His glory when God makes you successful.

Be careful that wealth does not take you the wrong way. God had to reprimand the church of the Laodiceans. He said, “Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and need nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock.” (Revelation 3:17-20)

This is a powerful scripture to pray into your life as God begins to bless you in abundance. Pray that you will never think that you no longer need God. Pray that He will refine you and give you eyes to see, and always remember that without Him, you are nothing. He will always be standing at your door, knocking and wanting a relationship with you. And that relationship is the main purpose of your life. Don’t ever lose sight of that. Be grateful for His blessings but never allow them to become the main thing.
