Love What God Loves, Hate What He Hates (Part 2)

“The fear of the Lord is to hate evil…” (Proverbs 8:13)

The more you fear God, the more you hate evil. Something in you fights it. We are living in a time where people think grace means you can live any way you want to live. But to revere the Lord is to hate evil and sin. We need to get our standards and convictions back up. God hasn’t changed, and His Word has not changed either. 

God calls us to love Him with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength. He also tells us to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. But loving our neighbor doesn’t mean we need to keep silent about babies being torn apart and murdered and the Supreme Court redefining what marriage is. There comes a point where we have to stand up and say, “That isn’t right!” In America, if you destroy the egg of a bald eagle, you will be fined $250,000 and put in prison for up to five years. But it is acceptable to destroy the egg and embryo of a baby. These birds have more rights than human children! 

History records a remarkable account of the destruction of an ancient city. Watchmen on the wall had the tremendous responsibility of watching for approaching danger. Sensing people resented false alarms; the watchmen remained quiet even though they saw something coming that looked dangerous. Regrettably, not long after, the enemy did come. The city was destroyed when it could have been saved. Later, someone erected a small memorial and inscribed these words: “Here stood a town that was destroyed by silence.”

If America is destroyed, it will be destroyed by silence – in the pulpits, in the pews, and at the voting boxes. If babies are destroyed, they’ll be destroyed by silence. If the morality of the God-fearing, the faith-based nation we were birthed in is destroyed, it will be destroyed by the silence of the church of Jesus Christ. Pray this prayer today for our nation: 

“Father, we just pray right now for America. First of all, we repent. We come to you, and we repent, Lord, that America is swimming in a sewer of violence, adultery, immorality, abortion, homosexuality, selfishness, and greed. We repent of our sins. We hear you calling us back to you, and we want to love what you love, and we want to hate what you hate in our lives. Lord, give us boldness in this hour. Help us to speak the truth in love as never before. We pray for a mighty outpouring of your repentance on this nation. Amen.”
