He Is A Motion Sensitive God

“Come near to God, and He will come near to you.” James 4:8

Have you ever been in a modern bathroom with one of those motion sensors at the sink? You have to move your hand near it in order for the water to come out. In Hebrews, God says, “Draw nigh unto me, and I’ll draw nigh unto you.” In other words, God is a motion-activated God. He reacts to movement. He responds to action. If you move, God will move. If you do nothing, God will do nothing. 

Notice in Mark 6 that the Bible says, “He (Jesus) would have passed them by,” but when they cried out, “Oh Jesus, save us,” He turned and said, “Be not afraid,” and He brought a miracle to their storm. When you get into the storms of life, refuse to allow the enemy to silence you or stop you from making moves toward God.

In Exodus 3, God told Moses to turn aside and see what bush burning was about. Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside,” and when he did, God began to speak to him. If you move, God moves. 

Deuteronomy 30:9 says, “And the Lord thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hands, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good, for the Lord will again rejoice over thee for good, as He rejoiced over thy fathers.” But the next verse says this: “If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the Lord, thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.”

God was basically saying, “I’m a motion-sensitive God. I look at what you do. And if you respond toward me, I’ll respond back toward you. If you ignore me, then I ignore you!” God gave us free will so He could allow us to choose whether we wanted a relationship with Him or not. But He is always there, waiting for you to make the first move.
