He Is A Motion Sensitive God (Part 2)

“This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” Chronicles 20:15

In 2 Chronicles 20, Jehoshaphat was in the battle of his life. Maybe you are fighting the worst battle you’ve ever fought in your life. Jehoshaphat knew his strength was found in God, so he gave bizarre instructions to his army. “And he consulted with the people, and appointed singers unto the Lord.” They are about to go into a battlefield, and Jehoshaphat appointed singers- not swordsmen, not archers, not chariots, not all of the things you would think you would need to fight a war successfully.

He said (paraphrased), “No if we’re going into battle, we are going to put some praise out in front.” And when the singers began to praise, God caused the enemy army to turn on one another, and God’s people were kept safe. When you are going through a battle, the enemy wants you to sit in a place of pity and bitterness, asking, “Why did this happen to me?” But when you understand that God is a motion-sensitive God, you will praise Him even when you don’t feel like it.

In Acts 16, Paul and Silas are beaten and locked up in jail. But at midnight, they began to sing praises to God, and as they praised, “immediately there was an earthquake, and the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.” When you don’t know what to do, just start to praise God, and you will see Him move on your behalf.

Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways THEN I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” When you move, God moves. James 5:14 says, “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.” God waits for us to do our part.

Don’t allow the hard things of life to leave you paralyzed with fear. All God wants you to do is turn to Him and try. Fall on your knees and begin to pray. Turn on some worship music. Go to the prayer service even if you don’t feel like being around anyone. Your job is just to come near to Him. When you act in obedience, you will see God’s hand begin to work in your life.
