Overcoming Barriers To God’s Blessing

“The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing.” Psalms 23:1

In Zechariah 1, God declared prosperity over the nation of Israel, but as soon as He did that, the prophet instantly saw a vision of “horns” of resistance arise. The horns came to scatter, divide, depress, and discourage. Whenever God’s people have a vision to build anything, they will encounter resistance. It is the will of God for you to prosper in all you do. He wants you to have a successful marriage, family, and career.

There are many barriers that will come against you when you begin to get a God-given vision. The first barrier will be a spirit of lack. You often see this passed down in families generation after generation. A spirit of lack can hold you back from a better future. This spirit says, “You can’t go any further than this.” “You don’t have the resources to do anything better.” This can become a limiting mindset that keeps you from God’s best. But the Bible says, “God will supply all your needs according to His riches and glory.” It doesn’t matter what the present economy looks like or how much you start making in your job. God is your source, and He does not lack resources.

The second barrier against you when trying to accomplish a dream is the spirit of limitation. A spirit of limitation puts an invisible ceiling on your life. It will tell you you can’t go any higher than a certain point. It will tell you that others may be able to climb higher, but you won’t go any further.

An elephant trainer once described how he controlled these massive animals. The key was to chain their leg to a cinder block when they were little. The little elephant would realize he couldn’t move very far and eventually would give up trying. Once the elephant had mentally accepted that limit, he never tried to break out again, even as a grown 4,000-pound adult.

Never allow invisible limits of fear, insecurity, and lies to keep you from God’s best. You are stronger than you think you are. That elephant never realized he was stronger and mightier than what he used to be. Satan doesn’t ever want you to realize who you are in Christ because he knows you would do great things in this world. Break out of the limits the enemy has placed over your life. Faith never settles
