God Owns It All!

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21

Maybe you have had a tough financial season, but God can turn everything around in the upcoming year. God owns it all. Prepare your heart and increase your faith in Him to do great things for your finances.

There was a man in an airport waiting for his flight. He wanted a little snack, so he bought a cup of coffee and a bag of little donuts and sat down at a table. He pulled out his newspaper, grabbed the bag of donuts, and started eating one. Then, all of a sudden, a guy sitting near him reached his hand across the table into the man’s bag of donuts, took a donut, smiled, and started eating it.

The first man thought, “Well, I have never in my life- can you believe the audacity of this jerk eating my donut?” So he grabbed the bag of donuts and moved it all the way to the edge, and turned his body to send a message, as if to say, “you leave my donuts alone.” Then he straightened his newspaper, reached in, and ate another donut. Then, all of a sudden, the second man stood up, stretched all the way across the table, smiled at the man and grabbed another donut from the bag. The first guy couldn’t believe it. He really wanted to fight him, but he thought it was pretty obvious the guy must have a mental problem, so he held his peace.

After the smiling guy finished eating his second donut, he stood up, grabbed his stuff, and walked off to catch his flight. The first guy noticed the time and realized his flight was leaving, and when he stood up to leave, he saw his bag of donuts sitting on top of his suitcase. The whole time, he thought the smiling man was taken from him when the man was really sharing his own donuts with him!

Sometimes we get it mixed up. We get stingy with what was never ours to begin with. God owns all the donuts. When it’s time to tithe and give, we think, “What do you mean you want one out of my ten donuts?” But God owns all the donuts. If He wants to, He can take all the donuts off your plate and just walk away. But He’s a good God, and He keeps blessing you over and over again. Pause for a minute and reflect on all that God has given you. You are just a steward of that house and car. But one day, you will no longer own them. When you go to Heaven, it will go to someone else. You’ve just been borrowing it for a while. God gave you the talent to do that job and the health to continue working each day. God owns the cattle on a thousand hills. He doesn’t need your money. But He uses the money to test your heart. The Bible never said that money was the root of all evil. It says that “The LOVE of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” (1 Timothy 6:10). This year, make up your mind to love God more than anything else and watch Him bless you more than you could ever imagine!
