Dealing With Criticism

“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

You will likely have to deal with criticism when you stretch your faith to do something great for God. As long as you’re doing nothing, nobody will ever criticize you. But the critics will come the moment you start working on your dream and begin doing what God is telling you to do.

Many people just sit on the sideline and criticize others – “You can’t do it.” “It’s impossible.” “You’re going to fail.” Then, when you start proving them wrong, they say, “Well, you can do it for a little while, but it won’t last.” And then, when you actually accomplish the dream, they are the first to say, “I knew you could do it all the time; I was rooting for you…” So don’t worry about your critics. Just go on and keep stretching.

You will always be vulnerable to criticism when you step out and try to do something great in faith. You have to believe in yourself and know that your Creator believes in you, too.

The greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan, was cut from his high school team. Apparently, the coaches didn’t believe in him. Walt Disney was fired from his job at a newspaper early in his career. They said he “lacked imagination.” Steven Spielberg, one of the most iconic movie directors of all time, was rejected from film school three times! Elvis Presley was fired from the Grand Ole Opry and was told to go back to truck driving. If all of these iconic individuals had allowed the opinions and criticisms of others to stop them, they would have never made history
