Beware of Snake Eggs

“As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts…But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions…” Ephesians 2:1-5

Isaiah 59 is so prophetic concerning the times that we’re living in. Verse 2 says, “But your iniquities have separated you from God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He will not hear you. For your hands are defiled with blood, your fingers with iniquity. Your lips have spoken lies. Your tongue has muttered perversity. No one calls for justice, nor does any plead for truth. They trust in empty words and speak lies. They conceive evil and bring forth iniquity. They hatch vipers’ eggs and weave spiders’ webs. He who eats their eggs dies, and a viper breaks out from that which is crushed.”

The snake eggs in this passage represent the deadly philosophies of man that are hatched by the grandfather serpent himself, Satan. Straight from the incubators of hell, there are snake eggs that are being hatched in the minds of a whole generation that tell them to live any way they want to live. The culture of this world will tell you to do anything you want to do. “All roads lead to Heaven. You can pick any god. Try to be a good person. Do nice things. Everybody do what is right in your own eyes.” When people buy into these ideas, they become separated from God. They don’t have peace or relationships that work and are bound and addicted to whatever their flesh has led them to. They end up in places they can’t get out of on their own because they have swallowed the snake eggs of lies and deception.

In 1980, the Ten Commandments came out of all government buildings and schools, opening the door to violent crime, drunkenness, and gangs. Kids are taught that there is no divine Creator and that they evolved from animals. You did not come from an animal. The Bible says you are made in the image of God. God breathed his breath of life into the lungs of man. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. One version says, “Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day. (Psalm 139)

Snake eggs of the enemy tell this generation, “There’s no such thing as morality. You don’t need to wait for anything, just fulfill the lust of your flesh. Don’t live by the rules. There’s nothing wrong with adultery. There’s nothing wrong with homosexuality. There’s nothing wrong with multiple marriages. If it feels good, do it.” The philosophy of social media, television, and Hollywood is leading this generation. When your mind is not being renewed in the Word of God but instead allowing the ideas of the snake to be planted with every movie, TV show, song, and reel, you may soon find yourself compromising. All these sinful attitudes will become familiar to you and desensitize you to their danger.

But there is good news for God’s children. Praise God for the promise that “He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under His feet…(Ephesians 1:20-22) If you have Jesus today, the powers of this world are under your feet. Jesus has crushed the head of the serpent, Satan.
