Wounds That Glow In The Dark (Part 3)

“For God, who said, ‘Let there be light in the darkness,’ has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6

Jesus’ wounds are the ultimate representation of God’s mercy and grace. 1 Peter 2:21 says, “And for this cause you were called because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth. And when He was reviled, nor did He revile in return.” When Jesus suffered, He did not threaten others or curse God, but He committed His entire life to His Father.

Jesus set the example. “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we having died to sins might live for righteousness by whose stripes you were healed.” Don’t get bitter. Don’t get angry. Somewhere, sometime, somehow, you will be able to help somebody else with your testimony. You could be someone’s lifeline today. God wants to use your experiences to shed light on the darkness of other peoples’ pain.

When you find yourself waiting for peace, just realize that God says, “If you’ll let me use you, I’ll take everything you’ve been through and make it a blessing.” Families, men, women, and even teenagers are stuck because they can’t stop trying to figure out why something happened in their lives. God doesn’t want you to live like that. Instead, pray, “Lord, I’m not letting go of you. If it gets better, I’ll praise you. If it doesn’t get better, I’ll be right here knowing that you are working all things together for my good.”

If you are wounded today, pray this prayer: God, I’m hurting, but I want you to take my wounds and make them glow in the dark. I choose today to let go of trying to understand why this happened. I trust you because you know all things, and you are a good God. I choose to let go of bitterness and forgive. I want you to use what I’ve been through to comfort somebody else like you have comforted me. I want my life to glow so it will bring hope to others. Use my pain to be a blessing. In your name, I pray. Amen.
