The Hand Of God

“I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” John 10:28 

It is incredible to realize that a hand in Heaven has always been pulling us Heavenward. If you are a Christian today, you can most likely reflect on how God’s hand has brought you to where you are today. 

You can see God’s hand in creation as He created earth with salvation for mankind in mind. You can see His mighty hand at work when it brought 2.5 million Israelites out of Egyptian slavery. His hand fed them 26,500 tons of food every day, made water come out of rocks, and caused their clothes not to wear out for 40 years. He would bring a Messiah out of those people named Jesus. 

Then, many years later, you can see God’s hand in the hand of Jesus as it reached down, scooped up mud, and put it into the eyes of a blind man to heal his sight. You can see God’s hand as it wrote a love letter in the sand when they threw the woman caught in adultery at the feet of Jesus. 

You can see the hand of God most of all as it curled around a spike on Calvary after they nailed Jesus to a tree. And when Jesus declared, “It is finished!” it was not as a victim moaning in defeat. It was the cry of a victor. He did exactly what He set out to do. And when He said that phrase, He was declaring that the power of sin was defeated. 

Charles Wesley once said, “Before the throne, my lawyer stands. My name is written within His hand.” The book of Isaiah says that your name is written on God’s hand. He had a plan to get you into Heaven from the very start. How great is His love for us!
