Today’s Scripture

Revelation 3:7, NCV

“This is what the One who is holy and true, who holds the key of David, says. When he opens a door, no one can close it. And when he closes it, no one can open it.”

Today’s Word

In the Scripture, after God gave Joseph a dream that he would be in a position of leadership, he was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and put in prison. He had one bad break after another for thirteen years before he became the prime minister of Egypt. If he had had a preconceived idea of how it was going to happen, he would have lived bitter and angry.

God uses adversities, bad breaks, and disappointments to move us to where He wants us to be. The trouble looks like a setback but is really transportation. We think God only uses favor, good breaks, and open doors to get us to our destiny, but He uses closed doors just as much as open doors. He uses people who are against us just as much as people who are for us. He uses rejection, betrayals, and delays to position us for promotion. We can’t see it at the time, we don’t like it, it’s uncomfortable, but it’s the hand of God ordering our steps.

Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that You’re not limited by closed doors, by disappointments, or by my preconceived ideas of how You work. Thank You for closed doors as well as open doors. I believe that You are directing my steps and that You’ll take me through the things I don’t understand. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
