The Fish’s Mouth

Today’s Scripture

Matthew 17:27, NIV

“Go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours.” 

Today’s Word

When the tax collectors came asking Peter if Jesus paid the temple tax, Jesus told Peter to go to the lake and the first fish he caught would have a silver coin in its mouth to pay their taxes. God is not going to allow those finances to take you down. He controls the economy; He controls the finances. God knows what’s happening, and He will make a way. He’s watching over you. Quit worrying, quit losing sleep. God has you in the palms of His hands.

He never asked you to figure out how to work your life out. In fact, the Scripture says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding.” If you lean to your understanding, you’re going to get frustrated, because sometimes there is no logical solution. There is no way out in the natural. But we serve a supernatural God. He can make things happen that we couldn’t make happen. Suddenly the fish is caught and things fall into place. 

Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that You are in no way limited to what my circumstances look like and have been. Thank You that I am in the palms of Your hands and You have supernatural ways of providing for my needs. Help me to stop leaning on my own understanding. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
