The Final Say
Nov 12, 2022
Today’s Scripture
Mark 5:35–36, AMPC
…there came some from the ruler’s house, who said [to Jairus], Your daughter has died. Why bother and distress the Teacher any further? Overhearing but ignoring what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, Do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear; only keep on believing.
Today’s Word
In today’s Scripture, Jesus overheard the negative report of the girl’s death, but He chose to ignore it. He didn’t deny that the report was true or pretend the person had not died, but He didn’t let it take root. He didn’t meditate on it. He didn’t get discouraged. He ignored it and went straight to the home, because He knew people don’t have the final say. God has the final say.

In life there will be times when it feels as though every voice is telling you, “You can’t do it. It’s not going to work out. You’ll never overcome this problem.” Sometimes in order to stay in faith you have to ignore a negative report. You have to ignore what somebody said about you or what your own thoughts are telling you. You may hear it, but you can choose not to dwell on it and believe a better report. Make a decision that you’re going to keep your thoughts fixed on what God says. Only keep on believing.
Prayer for Today
Father, thank You that no matter what other voices may be saying about my life, You have the final say. Thank You that I can stay in faith and choose to not dwell on negative reports. I believe that as I get my thoughts in agreement with Your Word that I shall overcome. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
