Silence

Today’s Scripture

Joshua 6:10, NLT 

“Do not even talk,” Joshua commanded. “Not a single word from any of you until I tell you to shout.” 

Today’s Word

When Joshua was leading the people of Israel into the Promised Land, they had to conquer the city of Jericho with its thick, tall wall. They had no way to get in. God told them to march around that wall once a day for six days, and on the seventh day to march around it seven times. He also said, “While you’re marching, keep totally silent.” He knew they would be saying, “This wall is never going to fall.” Negative words would have defeated them. 

Could it be that negative words are keeping you out of your promised land? Could it be that if you stopped talking about how big the problems are, the walls that are holding you back would come down? Imagine behind that wall is your healing, your promotion, your dream coming to pass. Every day as you’re walking around the wall, what are you saying? Don’t let negative words keep you from God’s best. If you stop talking defeat, lack, how it’s not going to happen, and simply remain silent, God can bring those walls down. 

Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that You are leading me into my promised land and that You can bring the walls of my Jericho down. Strengthen me and help me focus on Your promises and not my problems. I believe that as I speak words of faith that I will see You release Your promises. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
