Guarding Your Reputation
JAN 21, 2024
Today’s Scripture
Proverbs 22:1, EHV
A good name is worth more than great wealth. Respect is worth more than silver and gold.
Today’s Word
We all want to have a good reputation. We know how important it is. Our reputation goes before us, can open doors and cause the right people to come. But what happens when you’re being your best, you’re honoring God, but other people tarnish your reputation? They say things that are not true and spread rumors to make you look bad. They cause people to have the wrong opinion of who you are. It’s tempting to try to straighten people out, to prove what they’re saying is wrong. But if you get on that treadmill, once you fix one problem, another will come up.
Here’s the key: You have to put your reputation in God’s hands. Let Him defend you. Let Him be your vindicator. The Scripture never says to guard your reputation, but it says to guard your heart. Guarding your reputation is not your job and will leave you worn out. Leave your reputation in God’s hands. He knows how to change people’s minds, how to silence negative voices, and how to cause you to be seen in the right light.
Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You are my vindicator and that You will protect my reputation as I keep on honoring You. Help me to let any negative chatter bounce off me and to not try to straighten others out or prove they’re wrong. I believe that You will handle it Your way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
