Call His Bluff
SEP 30, 2023
Today’s Scripture
2 Chronicles 32:7–8, NIV
“Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him. With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles.”
Today’s Word
The king of Syria had invaded Judah with a huge army, and Jerusalem was next to be attacked. He sent a letter to the Israelites defying them to trust God, trying to terrify the people into surrendering. But King Hezekiah refused to be intimidated and declared his confidence to the people. When they took their stand, God sent an angel to destroy the whole Syrian army.
The enemy has no new tricks. He uses the same tactics. He uses the loud threats, the loud thoughts: “It’s not going to work out. This problem is too big. Give up, surrender, quit believing.” He’s expecting these negative thoughts to make it easier to defeat you. But you know his tactics as Hezekiah did. You can call his bluff and say, “No, thanks. I’m not intimidated. The problem may be big, but my God is bigger. He has the final say. These people who are against me may be powerful, but my God is all-powerful, and He is with me.” Don’t let the enemy bully you. Stand strong and call his bluff.

Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for the strength that rises within me whenever I remember how big You are and that You are with me to fight my battles. Thank You for the countless times You have delivered my mind from the fears and doubts. I will keep my mind at peace and wait on You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
