The Power of Hope

SEP 09, 2023

Today’s Scripture

Romans 15:13, NIV

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Today’s Word

We all have situations that don’t look as though they’re going to work out. We don’t see how we can get well, how we can accomplish a dream, how our family will be restored. It’s one thing to have hope in these times, but the apostle Paul prayed that we would overflow with hope. When you overflow with hope, you’re not moved by what the circumstances look like, and you’re not worried because you don’t see a way. You know that God is ordering your steps and His plans for you are for good, so you can’t be talked out of it.

What are you overflowing with? Overflowing with worry? “What if it doesn’t work out?” Overflowing with doubt and discouragement? “I don’t see how this problem can resolve.” You’re overflowing with the wrong thing. If you start overflowing with hope, believing despite what it looks like, thanking God when you could be complaining, expecting things to change in your favor, you’re going to see God show out in your life.

Prayer for Today

“Father, thank You that You are the God of hope and You want my life to overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank You that I can get in agreement with You and believe that You are about to do a new thing. I declare that You are ordering my steps. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
