…for the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you

What was King Saul thinking when he allowed a young shepherd boy to face down a hulking giant? What chance did David have against Goliath?

In ancient times, warring armies commonly staged a dual between their two strongest soldiers. The winner of the duel determined the outcome of the battle and sent his fellow soldiers home to plant crops, build homes, and control their trades.

In the valley of Elah, the Philistines put up their champion fighter, Goliath. For forty days, morning and night, he challenged the Israelites to send out a worthy opponent. Goliath poured out his contempt when, instead of a battle-hardened warrior, a boy with his trusty slingshot stepped onto the plain.

God sent out a Warrior to fight for us. Jesus has proven Himself in the ultimate battle with the enemy of our souls. He won a war that He knew we did not have the power to win.

In whatever arena you face a giant today, know that the Lord stands beside you. He goes with you to fight against your enemy. Whatever taunts and lies the enemy shouts at you, rest assured that the battle already belongs to Jesus. He has come to rescue you.

He fights for you! He will strike the final blow that will send you home to embrace your life. Stand still, and watch for His deliverance. See what He will accomplish for you.

Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. Jesus has overcome the enemy of our souls. He is our Protector and Defender. May you rest in the truth that the battle belongs to Him. Stand still, and see the deliverance of the Lord!
