For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day
Why would we withhold the Good News? Are we utterly convinced of what we believe? Perhaps we fear rejection or carry a predetermined expectation that something negative will happen.
In today’s verse, the apostle Paul reminds Timothy of all that he has suffered for the cause of Christ. He was beaten, imprisoned, stoned, shipwrecked, hungry, cold, and naked. He carried the burden of concern for his fellow believers…only to be rejected by them (II Corinthians 11:23-29).
In spite of all that, Paul fiercely told Timothy that he was not ashamed. He knew Whom he believed in, and he was persuaded that God was able. He sought approval from no one else. His expectation was firmly planted in Jesus Christ, and he proclaimed with assurance: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).
Let’s fully rely on God so we move from Sunday morning pew-warmers to those who fully embrace, believe, and tell. Let us go into the highways and hedges to share His amazing grace!
Blessing:
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May the good news of the Gospel be like fire shut up in your bones so that you cannot hold it back. May your feet run to share His Word. May You invite others to come meet our worthy Savior. As you go, may His favor rest upon you.
