When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord

Every warrior needs a battle plan. Every warrior who goes into combat without a plan becomes a casualty.

As David prepared to fight Goliath, he went to the brook, found five smooth stones, placed them in a pouch, and grasped his slingshot in his hand. Most importantly, he went out to fight the giant in the “name of the Lord of hosts.”

Proverbs reminds us that a person can make many plans, but the Lord’s will always prevails. We purpose in our hearts to seek His direction and allow God to plot the journey. We may chart our courses, but He will guide our feet. To be certain that we are in step with Him, we await our marching orders.

We do not drift aimlessly into success. His Word is our guidebook that instructs how to respond in battlefield situations. Prayer keeps us in constant contact with our Commander-in-Chief. Every skirmish hones our skills and sharpens us for the next encounter with the enemy. And always at the front of the brigade, leading the charge, is our Lord of lords.

What “stones” are in the pouch at your waist? What weapon do you heft in your hand? In whose power do you wage war? Draw up the plan that will lead you to certain victory!

Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May you trust the Lord to plot your course and to lead you through every battle. May He scatter your enemies like the straw of a summer threshing floor. His plans will lead you to certain victory!
