…when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe

God has graciously given us the life-giving truth of His Word to guide and to guard our steps. It is a border and a blessing – the very foundation of our lives in Him.

When we choose to live within the border of His Word – and to not pursue our own paths – He blesses that obedience and rewards us with the promises found within the chapters and verses.

Moses understood this concept. When the children of Israel sinned, God told Moses that He would no longer travel with His chosen people. He would send an angel before them, but He Himself would not go with them to the land flowing with milk and honey.

Moses went to meet God in the tabernacle. He told the Lord that he would rather call off the whole trip than to take one step without Him (Exodus 33:15). It was not a hard choice for Moses. He preferred to stay in the wilderness with the presence of God than to go to the Promised Land without Him.

Are you committed to walking within the border and the blessings of His Word? Have you dedicated every step to the Lord? When the law of the Lord is in our hearts, our steps will not slip or falter (Psalm 37:31).

Blessing:

Heavenly Father, I cling to Your Word as the foundation and direction for my life. I do not want to take one step outside of Your will or away from Your presence. Help me hide Your Word in my heart as I follow You. In the name of Jesus…amen.
