Topic: Accessing the Voice of God!
Welcome to another impactful week. I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. Today, we shall focus on: Accessing the Voice of God!
We understand from scriptures that God is committed and ever ready to offer direction to as many as are willing to be led. However, it does not come cheaply; it requires diligence and a business-like approach. We have to consciously programme ourselves to hear His voice. Just as we need to be tuned to a particular frequency in order to pick radio signals, we need to be correctly tuned to heaven’s frequency to hear God’s voice of direction and this requires a definite determination on our parts. For it is written: And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left (Isaiah 30:21). Also, a climbing up is needed to hear from God. It is an uphill task but the joy it brings outweighs the price paid. The Bible says: After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter (Revelation 4:1). This implies that we should come away from all those things keeping us on the ground. A separation is needed to hear from God or to receive instruction either from His Word or voice. Although, Moses had to go to the mountain to receive the pattern for the temple, we do not have to go to a physical mountain. What is actually required is a separation unto God, in which we create a conducive environment for our spirit man to be able to communicate with God. This can be done even in our room, where we have a quiet place and time to talk with God, with no interference or disturbance. We need to be ready to pay the price of separation if we want to hear His voice. When God called Paul, he spent three years in Arabia, receiving insight and revelations from God (Galatians 1:15-18). In other words, a separation unto God is to our own advantage.
How, then, Can We Access the Voice of God?
1. Through Joy: We need joy to hear God’s voice of direction. If we are not joyful, our access to Him will be blocked. It takes joy to gain access into the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. It is a great secret for triumph. Joy must be in place before we can understand the things of God, for it is with joy that we draw revelations and instructions from God. The Bible says: Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation (Isaiah 12:3). Also, it is written: Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the Lord, to the mighty One of Israel. And the Lord shall cause his glorious voice to be heard… (Isaiah 30:29-30). When will He cause His glorious voice to be heard? Only when we come to Him with a song and with gladness of heart! If there’s no gladness of heart, we become deaf to the voice of God. Therefore, we should endeavour not to let anything take our joy from us.

2. By Being Free From Cares, Worries and Anxiety: To gain access to His voice, we need to be free from whatever causes us to fear or brings sorrow and anxiety. Let us fight them as though we were fighting against sin. Why? They will rob us of our access to the voice of God, which is our secret for sweatless triumph. Heaviness is a spirit as validated by this scripture: To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified (Isaiah 61:3).It is one of satan’s strategies for stripping God’s people naked. He knows that God is absent wherever heaviness of heart is and when God is absent, we become a cheap prey in his hands.
In summary, do not allow little, little foxes such as concerns for what to eat, drink or where to sleep make the Word of God of no effect in our lives. When we continue worrying about them day and night, it becomes impossible to walk in the Spirit and gain access to the voice of God. However, gaining access to the voice of God takes being born again. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I know I am born again!
