The MESSAGE:

God is a God of revival. He is a loving Father whose uttermost delight is to massively turn the hearts of sinners and backsliders unto Him in a loving relationship. This Almighty God desires to greatly pour out His Spirit upon His children for spiritual power and exploits. Furthermore, it pleases God when He stretches forth His hand of might and power against His enemies and the enemies of His Church. Unfortunately, the people of God are unwilling to pay the price, one of which is at the altar of prayer. A careful study of occurrences of revival through biblical times unto this generation clearly shows that every revival is born out of fervent prayers. The spirit of prayer is a continual heart burning with passionate desire for more of God, and for God to revive His work amongst His people.

Prayer prepares the heart of the people through repentance and confession of sins as Ezra and Nehemiah led Israel through fasting and prayer of repentance to bring revival amongst the captives that returned from Babylon to rebuild Jerusalem. Prayers provoke the outbreak of revival, but revival tarries when Christians are at ease, spiritually lukewarm, and intercesssors are lacking. Like the Jews of Old, the Church in this generation, with all the global crises, is in urgent need of intercesssors whose hearts can genuinely cry out for revival. Psalm 85 is a prayer born out of adversity when the people of Israel had turned away from God. The Psalmist cried out for revival in verse 6: “Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? In Habakkuk 3:2, the prophet also cried unto God out of suffering because the people had sinned, “O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.”

God never overlook or despises a broken and contrite heart (Psalm 51:17). In Isaiah 57:15, the Bible declares thus about God, the High and Lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; “I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.” The blessings that accompany such heart cry is often tremendous in terms of salvation, healings, deliverances, freedom, endowment of believers with spiritual power and wisdom, spiritual gifts, manifestation of the fruit of the spirit in the life of believers, all kinds of recoveries, increased fellowship and new converts, added strength and vision for mission work, unity of spirit amongst believers, just to mention few.

Prayer is the fan that sets aglow the fire of God in us and for lasting personal and group revival, the fire must abide. Acts 2:1-3 records how the Holy Ghost descended on the day of Pentecost and lighted on the disciples as tongues of fire. This fire was preserved by individual and corporate prayers and its manifestations were fierce, spreading through the world of their time. God is willing and ready to empower massive revival in this generation. It therefore lies on every believer, you and I, to decide to be candidates of revival and the starting point is reviving our prayer altar now!
