TOPIC: Lay Your Treasure In Heaven (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 2 March 2021)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 16-17

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Matthew 19:16-22 (KJV)

16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

MEMORY VERSE: “Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.” – James 5:3

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
He who lays up treasures in heaven looks forward to eternity.

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
POWERS THAT WANT TO EAT UP YOUR LABOUR OF LOVE IN THE VINEYARD OF GOD SHALL BE IMPRISONED, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

The MESSAGE:

The rich young ruler came to ask Jesus a question. The question he asked was how he might have eternal life. Jesus answered the man by telling him that he needed to obey the Commandments of God, and the rich young ruler asked Jesus which of the Commandments He meant. Jesus said, “You shall not kill; you shall not commit adultery, etc. The young man said, “All these I have kept from my youth up. What do I still lack? Jesus added, “Go and sell that thou hast and give to the poor and thou shall have treasure in heaven then come and follow me.” The Bible says that, the man of great possession went away sorrowful when he heard Jesus’ response.

You can tell by the reaction of the rich man where his heart was. His heart was controlled by his wealth and riches. He was not willing to let those things go in order to follow Jesus. There are many examples of people who laid up their treasures on earth. Their hearts were set upon the earthly things. They were willing to disobey God for the sake of temporal riches that do not exist.

Where is your treasure? Are you like the rich young man? Are you earthly-minded or heavenly-minded? Are you investing in eternity or you are investing here now? Jesus used three examples of things that can take away these temporary investments, they include: moth, rust and thief.

What you deem valuable shows you where your heart is. Is it money? Is it position? Is it wealth? Is it power? Do you desire to be a recognised leader? Begin to X-ray yourself now to know where your treasure is. Is it your family and how you have raised great kids? All these are temporary compared to eternal things that are permanent (1 Peter 1:3-6). What an awesome thing to know that, as believers, our inheritance is waiting for us. We will inherit eternity and be with Christ.

Beloved, you can lay treasure in heaven by living the way God has asked you to live, by obeying Him in all that you do and by your love for His word. Where is your treasure? I pray that you will put your treasure in heaven and you will be rewarded, in Jesus’ name.
