MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
A prayerful person is one who has realised that he is hopeless and useless without God.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
I DECREE UPON YOUR LIFE THAT THE AGENDA OF PRAYER KILLERS WILL NOT PROSPER OVER YOUR LIFE, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

The MESSAGE:

Prayer is talked about more than anything else but practised less than anything else. For the believer, it remains one of the greatest gifts our Lord has given us outside of salvation. It is the expression of human helplessness and insufficiency without God. It is the channel for the realisation and actualisation of the promises of God. This means that promises remain unrealised when prayer is not in place in a person’s life.

In Colossians 4:2, Paul said, “Devote yourselves to prayer” (NASB) or “Continue earnestly in prayer” (NKJV). This means that the believer should continue steadfastly in prayer and persist in it. It carries with it the idea of dedication. Of the ten times it is used in the New Testament, four of them have to do with being devoted to prayer. In other words, persistence in prayer is not an option for the Christian; it is an order from the Lord Himself.

George Muller, known as one of the greatest prayer warriors of all times, had this to say about persistence in prayer: “It is a common temptation of satan to make us give up the reading of the word and prayer when our enjoyment is gone; as if it were of no use to read the scriptures when we do not enjoy them, as if it were no use to pray when we have no spirit of prayer. The truth is that, in order to enjoy the word, we ought to continue to read it, and the way to obtain a spirit of prayer is to continue praying. The less we read the word of God, the less we desire to read it, and the less we pray, the less we desire to pray.”

Jesus was passionate about His prayer life. It brought Him unmeasured power at the beginning, and kept the flow unbroken and undiminished. There was no emergency, no difficulty, no necessity, no temptation that would not yield to prayer. Every time we see Jesus praying, He was praying with passion. That was because He knew Who it was He was talking to and that prayer to the Father is a powerful thing and not something to take lightly and glibly. Passionate prayer is prayer from the heart not just from the head.

Beloved, it is important to know that relationships are serviced by communication and when we don’t pray, we deprive ourselves of our relationship with God. Therefore, make up your mind to pray always.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. Father, teach me to pray, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Father, release upon me the spirit and power of prayer, in the name of Jesus.
  3. I reject the spirit of lukewarmness and slothfulness in the place of prayer, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

  1. Holy Spirit, make me a prayer eagle, in the name of Jesus.
  2. I refuse to be weary in the house of prayer, in the name of Jesus.
  3. Holy Spirit, help me to pray, in the name of Jesus.
  4. I receive grace to pray and be victorious over the devil, in the name of Jesus.
