TOPIC: Prayer That Brings Change (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 31 May 2019)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Chronicles 13-14; John 12:1-26

FIRE SCRIPTURE: James 5:13-16

MEMORY VERSE: “He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.” – Psalms 102:17

The MESSAGE:

Prayer is an act of communication with a Supernatural or Supreme Being. It is the lifeline for the children of God to make requests and supplications to the Most High. Prayer is a platform in which we talk with our Creator in great expectations. Champions and winners accomplish seemingly impossible tasks through prayers because they never give up or buckle under despite mounting criticisms, intense opposition, negative press and overwhelming obstacles. -they persevere on the altar of prayer with determined resolve. They refuse to throw in the towel. Often, the easiest way out would be to just quit. Thousands forget about their dreams so easily at the slightest trial like Esau, who quickly sold his birthright (Genesis 27:36). They easily forget their aspirations and return to their mediocrity.

Beloved, there are more angels on the winding path of fervent and effectual prayer than on a straight and convenient path. When your path is winding with curves and unplanned twists, and when your race seems slow, remember that the race is not for the swift nor the battle for the strong, but it is the Lord that shows mercy. Victory can only be achieved through prayer by those who refuse to quit praying and trusting God. Consider the postage stamp, its relevance consists in its ability to stick to an envelope until it gets to the receiver. Great achievements is embodied in persistent prayer that is done until change shows up. Hannah in 1 Samuel 2:1-9 prayed and barreness was dissolved. She became the mother of the first and greatest prophet in Israel -Samuel. Resist discouragement, depression and despair and endure in the battle until the evil day is over. Until the war is over, we must fight to the end. Until the race is finished, we must keep running. Until the wall is built, we must keep stacking bricks in prayers. Until victory is won, we must keep praying until something happens.

In Esther 4:16, Esther did the extraordinary. She went a step further and denied herself the comfort that was offered to her on the platter of gold and declared, “If I perish, I perish”. This singular action brought permanent change to the Jews. Jabez broke a generational yoke of sorrow and lack when he prayed earnestly and fervently for a change. The Bible records that he prospered and became more honourable than his fellows. (1 Chronicles 4:9-10).

There is something in the spirit of man that rebels against oppression. There is always something in a man’s spirit that tells him, “You are more than this.” When a man is oppressed with sickness as in the case of the woman with the issue of blood (Matthew 9:20), poverty and sorrow as in the case of Jabez (1 Chronicles 4:9), barrenness as in the case of Hannah (1 Samuel 2:1-9) or a life or race faced with a death threat as in the case of the Jews in Shushan (Esther 4:1-16), there is something inside of man that fights back, that kicks for freedom, that screams for liberty. The place to fight back is the altar of prayer. I do not know what you are fighting against. I do not know how long you have been fighting that battle. Child of God, your victory is near and it is sure. Do not contemplate quitting now; hold on until your change comes. Is it as bad as Job’s calamity? Wait on the altar of prayer until your change comes. There are times in everyone’s life when something constructive is born out of adversity. When things seem so bad that you have to grab your faith by the shoulder. It is at such times you stand against discouragement, faithlessness and fear. Stand against everything that is contrary to the plan and purpose of God for your life, family and ministry. Your change shall surely show up if you do not quit or give up. You shall testify, you shall celebrate and shall laugh at last.
