TOPIC: Lessons From The Life Of Daniel (I) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Devotional 12 May 2021)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 3-4, 12, 13, 28, 55

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Daniel 1:17-20

17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

18 Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

19 And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.

20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

MEMORY VERSE: “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat…” – Daniel 1:8

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Self control grows in us when we continually choose to die to our flesh and live in Him.

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
HEAVEN WILL MAKE YOU A DANIEL IN THIS GENERATION, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

The MESSAGE:

The Holy Bible records several individuals who, at one time or the other, excellently carried out the assignment that God gave them. They took the heavenly assignment with utmost seriousness and reverence, even at the point of death. One of these people was Daniel. The account of the life of Daniel, his encounter with God and visions were recorded in the book of Daniel and some other books of the Bible.

The Bible gave account of how he and others were taken captive by the cruel Babylonian soldier to a strange land as slaves. One thing that is so special about Daniel is that he carried God in his heart everywhere he went. Despite the fact that he was a slave in a strange land where he could give excuses for not serving God the right way, as most of would do, he stood firmly to defend his faith in God with his life. He influenced his three friends to uphold and “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 1:3).

There was no Pastor, House fellowship or group leader to mentor him in a strange land, still Daniel wasn’t willing to compromise his standards. He purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself (Daniel 1:8). His life of discipline made him ten times better than all the wise men and magician in Babylon. If we let our desires lead our decisions, our lives (and our bodies) can quickly spin out of control. Self-control is a discipline that God grows in us when we continually choose to die to our flesh and live in Him.

Another lesson to learn from the life of Daniel is that he did not waver when hardship arose. That we are God’s children is not a reason to be free from life’s challenges. God sometimes allows us go through some life’s challenges or experiences to prove to us that He has the power to deliver us out of all troubles. Just as the Bible says, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

If you yield your life in total commitment to God as Daniel did, you will prosper everywhere you find yourself.
