MFM Devotional For Today 2023 MESSAGE:

Many people work but not all work diligently. As a believer, how you work matters to God and determines the reward you get. Diligence means being hardworking, responsible and reliable. A diligent person will follow through on every task he or she starts, and this requires self- discipline. Diligence is what makes the idea of work fruitful and fulfilling. No matter how talented a person is, he or she is still going to need the diligence to enhance, examine and express the talent he or she is blessed with.

The Bible affirms that diligence is a virtue. Proverbs 22:29 says, “Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.” Also, Proverbs 12:11 says, “Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense.” 2 Timothy 2:6 adds that it is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops.

Beloved, whether you work for yourself, you are employed by an organisation or you work for God, you need diligence to succeed or excel. God warns believers against idleness and laziness; He encourages work and service. In Romans 12:11, He says, “Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.” Besides, diligence attracts some rewards; it has its fruits.

The Bible is replete with fruits of diligence. It says that God puts a diligent person above his competitors. Proverbs 12:24 says, “The hand of the diligent will rule, while the slothful will be put to forced labor.” It adds that the slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious (Proverbs 12:27) and that the plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty (Proverbs 21:5). Proverbs 22:29 reveals that diligence is required by every believer to make headway in career, business, academics and ministry. This shows that diligence leads to success, greatness, prominence, wealth and joy. Beloved, God will reward your diligence and faithfulness!
