TOPIC: Grieving The Holy Spirit (I) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Devotional 20 December 2021)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Timothy 1-4

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 4:28-32 (KJV)

28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

MEMORY VERSE: “But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.” – Isaiah 63:10

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Never allow your pride to rob you of your ability to listen to the Holy Spirit.

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
YOUR LIFE SHALL DAILY GLORIFY GOD, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

The MESSAGE:

To grieve means to make sad or sorrowful, to cause pain, grief or distress because of your actions. Grieving the Holy Spirit is a wilful action to prevent or oppose His leading by disobedience or rebellion.

You can grieve the Holy Spirit by the way you live, talk or act. The Bible warns against using bad languages or getting involved in corrupt communications, anger, quarrels, harsh words or bad attitudes towards others. You can also grieve the Holy Spirit when you use His name to excuse your sinfulness. Beloved, be careful not to grieve the Holy Spirit by your actions toward your brothers and sisters in Christ.

2 Timothy 3:16 says the whole Bible is God’s inspired word and, as a result of this, we should read it and apply it to our lives. Also 2 Peter 1:21 says that “Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” The message of the Bible is authentic and reliable. When you now decide to choose what you will obey and what you will ignore, you are disobeying the Holy Spirit and this will make Him to be sad or be grieved. Half obedience is 100% disobedience to the Holy Spirit.

Complete obedience is to do the will of God without compromise. So, beloved, disobeying the Holy Spirit by not applying the word of God in your life amounts to grieving Him. 1 John 2:20-27 affirms that you have unction from the Holy Spirit; and once you have Him, He will communicate the truth, which is Jesus. He will also guide you. He is sent to be your Comforter. But beloved, when you go against the leading of the Holy Spirit by shunning His directives, you grieve Him. You must place your total trust on Him, walk according to His direction and live as He wants you to live.

The Holy Spirit is the power in your life; do not shun Him and think you can do without Him. Do not allow your own agenda to override His leading. Without Him you are nothing. So, beloved, when you shun the Holy Spirit, you grieve or make Him sad.
