TOPIC: Lessons From The Life Of Esau (1) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Devotional 21 March 2025)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 32:1-33:39, Psalm 64:1-10, Luke 4:31-5:11, Proverbs 11:22

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Genesis 27:30-40 (KJV)

30 And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.

31 And he also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son’s venison, that thy soul may bless me.

32 And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau.

33 And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.

34 And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father.

35 And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing.

36 And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?

37 And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?

38 And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.

39 And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;

40 And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.

MEMORY VERSE: “And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.” – Exodus 4:2 (KJV)

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES:
Whatever you have is enough for God to do something miraculous. Don’t despise your little rod!

PRAISE AND WORSHIP:
Take praise and worship songs as led by the Holy Spirit.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
Your little bread and two fishes will feed nations, your little rod will deliver people and your little oil will take you to places of honour, in the name of Jesus.

MFM Devotional For Today 2024 MESSAGE:

Another lesson we can learn from the life of Esau is what I call ‘The Power of ONE’. Beloved, ONE is very powerful. Remove 1 from 100 and you will not have three digits again. Remove 1 from 1000 and the 4 figures will slide back to 3. That is the power of ONE that so many people despise. May we not despise the one thing that will make us great in the name of Jesus.

Jacob had supplanted Esau and received all the blessing but Esau pressed for just one blessing, Genesis 27:38 And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept. He got it and he ran with it. He worked with just one blessing and he became great. He did not end up begging from Jacob that received many blessings. He also became wealthy simply because he chose not to despise his little endowment. This is in contrast with the unprofitable servant in Matthew 25:25 that was given one talent but went to bury it. He was probably envious of the person that had five talents. He despised his days of little beginning. He buried the rod that would make him great. After all, its just one and what can one talent do for me…. so he thought. Esau got just one blessing and he ran with it and became a wealthy man.

Only God can estimate the number of talents and potential that have been buried simply because the carrier felt it was not enough to make them great. I wonder what would have happened to the Israelites at the Red sea if Moses had buried his one rod. Most of us tend to over-celebrate the many gifts in the lives of others and then look down on the one talent God has blessed us with that is capable of rewriting our history. God has blessed every human being with one talent or the another according to each person’s ability and capacity. Some could have ten and some could have just one. What matters most is not the number of your talents but what you do with those talents. Even if someone has all the talents in the world, if he doesn’t do anything with them, he may end up bowing to the person with one talent who has worked with it. What’s in your hand? Whatever you have in your hands, be it one or plenty, has the capacity to make you great.

A song writer rightly put it this way: “It’s in your hand, you hold a miracle, though not much to you, turn it to Him, He will take what you give to Him and make it what you want it be, a miracle is in your hand.”

I implore you today to discover your own rod and run with it and I pray that God will breathe on your talent to make you great, in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. O God arise, and bless me indeed, in the name of Jesus.
  2. O God my Father, breathe on my talent and make me great, in the name of Jesus.
  3. I shall not die unfulfilled, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

  1. I shall not die undiscovered, in the name of Jesus.
  2. My portion in life will not be given to another, in the name of Jesus.
  3. My buried talents, come alive, in the name of Jesus.
  4. I shall not despise my instrument of elevation, in the name of Jesus.
