16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
HENCEFORTH, THE LORD WILL MAKE YOU A VESSEL UNTO HONOUR, SET APART FOR HIS USE, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

MFM Devotional For Today 2023 MESSAGE:

As born-again Christians, we have been sanctified; we have been made holy by God, and so are expected, by virtue of our holiness, to live a life set apart for God here on earth.

Being set apart does not mean we have to isolate ourselves in the world; it does not mean that our dominant thoughts and desires should be to get away from this world and meet Christ, without having an impact on the world. If these were God’s desires, He would take us immediately to heaven after we got born again. In John 17:15-19, Jesus was not praying for God to take us away from the world; rather, he was praying that the world would not have a negative influence on us. Jesus actually sent us INTO the world, just as God sent Him into the world. He sanctified Himself so that we also can be sanctified to do God’s will, to live a life that is “set apart, dedicated, made holy” (v. 19, AMP).

A Christian who is set apart is not necessarily the one who wears white attire and adheres to religious structures put in place simply to put out the world. Being set apart starts first with our identity as children of God. It starts first with our nature of righteousness through Jesus Christ. A Christian who is set apart, therefore, learns to set time apart to know more and more of God, because he cannot please God, if he does not know Him. A Christian who is set apart thinks, talks and acts differently in such a way that people around him can testify that he is a Christian. A Christian who is set apart lives a holy life that draws others to God, rather than putting them in condemnation.

To be set-apart, you need to learn to remain in God, to make Him the centre of your life and allow Him to lead you, so that your life will begin to yield fruit.

If your being set-apart does not yield the kind of fruit of love in Galatians 5:22-23, you have probably been set apart for yourself. The love that results from your holiness should make other people “see” (experience) God (Hebrews 12:14). They should experience joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance from your life (Galatians 5:22-23). Do not just strive to be set apart; be set apart for God.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. Father, forgive me for living for myself alone, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Jesus, I accept that You are not only my Saviour, but You are also my Lord; so I follow Your leading for my life.
  3. I put my flesh under the subjection of the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

  1. Lord Jesus, teach me to love as You do.
  2. Anything in my life that does not attract people to Jesus, leave my life, in the name of Jesus.
  3. I decree that I am set apart for God and for good, in the name of Jesus.
  4. My life shall yield the fruits of righteousness, in the name of Jesus.
