The MESSAGE:
The Bible talks about the express importance of the fear of God. But what does this mean to us as His children? Simply put, it means to reverence God. Fear can either be a positive or negative emotion. When you have the right kind of fear, it will keep you out of danger. It will keep you out of trouble. It has no torment.

The fear of God is not the cringing kind of fear of terror, but that of love. It is the kind of fear that reminds you to always be in the right standing with God. The fear of God is reverent awe. That is, holy wonder and respect for God’s power, majesty, splendour, and authority. Holiness produces in us a godly fear not to disobey or ignore His word. This attitude is necessary to gain wisdom that makes a great difference in our thoughts and attitudes. It keeps us from doing things that can lead us unto destruction. Acts 9:31 says, “Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.” This Scripture tells us that true fear of the Lord in our hearts will bring the comfort of the Holy Spirit.
Do you fear God or you fear man more than God? The fear of man will ensnare you, but the fear of God will give you comfort and protect you in the journey of life. Remember, that to fear God and keep His commandments is all that is required of you. As you reverence God, you remain His beloved forever in Jesus’ name.
God Himself introduced Job as a perfect and upright man who feared Him and eschewed evil. No testimonial from any mortal can be better than this. Beloved, will God testify of you so admirably as He did Job? In case you do not fear God and hate evil, you can turn a new leaf today. Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” Be wise!
