FIRE SCRIPTURE: Acts 8:1-8 (KJV)

1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.

2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.

3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

8 And there was great joy in that city.

MFM Devotional For Today 2024 MESSAGE:

The Acts of the Apostles recorded the activities of the apostles in spreading the word of God beyond Jerusalem, and as they were dispersed there, large numbers of converts were added to the Church. Acts 8 has the record of Phillip doing the work of an evangelist in Samaria, so much that many souls were won to the kingdom of God and there was “great joy” in that city. He went further, led by the Holy Spirit, to minister salvation to the Ethiopia eunuch, thus fulfilling the words of Jesus in Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

As you ponder over these biblical occurrences, you need to ask yourself, “How well am I telling others about Jesus?” Am I doing enough in spreading the good news? Am I fulfilling the commandments of God to go and preach about the kingdom of God and more?”

Apostle Paul was one man that did so well in telling the world about Christ. His missionary journeys extended to the uttermost part of the earth the Gentiles. In fact, this was his major divine assignment, as revealed when God called him, “But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: for I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake” (Acts 9:15-16).

Fathers of faith like Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola did exploits for Christ as he proclaimed the gospel of salvation, healing for the sick and deliverance for the oppressed, as foretold in Isaiah 61:1-3. Beloved, you have been saved to save others. Christ is looking for faithful men and women who, in spite of what the world calls them, will be useful for His kingdom. Make up your mind to be one of those that will depopulate the kingdom of satan and populate the kingdom of God.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. O Lord help me to become a proclaimer of the gospel, in the name of Jesus.
  2. My life must show forth the goodness of God, in the name of Jesus.
  3. ⁠Grace and power to do the will of God, come upon me, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

  1. Use me, O Lord, to tell the world of the glory of Your kingdom, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Spirit of discouragement and low self esteem, my life is not your candidate, come out and die, in the name of Jesus.
  3. Declare this boldly, “I am not what the world calls me, or what I call myself; I am what God calls me.”
  4. Holy Spirit, empower me to do exploits for the Kingdom of God, in the name of Jesus.
