TOPIC: Overcoming Opportunity Wasters (I) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Devotional 30 July 2023)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 142, Psalms 143, Hebrews 7, Hebrews 8

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Genesis 27:33-41, Mark 6:1-6 (KJV)

Genesis 27:33-41:
33 And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.

34 And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father.

35 And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing.

36 And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?

37 And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?

38 And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.

39 And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;

40 And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.

41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.

Mark 6:1-6:
6 And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.

2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

4 But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.

6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

MEMORY VERSE: “For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.” – Hebrews 12:17

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
YOU SHALL NOT MISS YOUR OPPORTUNITIES IN LIFE, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

MFM Devotional For Today 2023 MESSAGE:

In life, there are three things that cannot come back: the spoken word, the time spent and replaced opportunities.

Opportunity has the following meanings (1) It is an opening (2) It refers to favourable circumstances. (3) It means advantageous situations, a chance and a discovered avenue for profiting (4) It is taking advantage of God’s gifts upon your life. (5) It is having a big break, a possibility, a prophetic message delivered to you (Proverbs 12:27). (6) It is locating what will work and making it to work (7) is to know what to produce and knowing what not to produce. (8) It is taking advantage of God’s gifts upon your life. (9) It is favourable allowance that God has given to you.

God’s best gift to us is not in things but opportunities. Blind Bartimaeus and the woman with the issue of blood used their opportunities. When you miss an opportunity, you miss success. Highly successful people are actually products of used opportunities and you can never find a lost opportunity. Being in the right place at the right time as well as availing yourself of opportunities that come your way will make you successful in life.

The Scriptures are full of men who, instead of keying into the ministry of divine help and using their opportunities, wasted the opportunities. (1) Adam and Eve squandered the opportunity God gave them in the Garden of Eden. (2) Lot moved with Abraham who was very spiritual and built altars wherever he went, but the never built altars. He missed the opportunities heaven provided him with (3) Men of Sodom and Gomorrah saw angels. Instead of crying for the angels to help them, they harassed the visitors from heaven and missed their opportunity. (4) Esau sold his birthright and missed his opportunity. (5) The sons of Aaron, Nadiad and Abihu they missed their opportunities to be very great priests of God (6) Jerusalem too missed its opportunities by being unable to decipher its day of visitation (Luke 19:29-44). (7) Judas lost his opportunity to be a great apostle. Satan entered Judas in the presence of Jesus and the betrayed his master (8) Gehazi lost his opportunity for four-fold anointing of Elijah. (9) Demas lost the opportunity of being a great apostle. I pray that you will not miss your divine opportunity, in the name of Jesus.

There are powers known as opportunity wasters. You need to avoid them or pray them out of your life. They include sin and backsliding, negligence, procrastination, laziness, indecision, procrastination, spiritual lukewarmness, trusting in the arm of the flesh, bad company, ingratitude, selfishness and pride.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. Father, let me not waste my divine opportunities, in the name of Jesus!
  2. Father, let me not squander my open heavens, in the name of Jesus!
  3. Father, let me not run into deficit in the bank of heaven, in the name of Jesus!

EVENING

  1. Father, let not my past be better than my future, in the name of Jesus!
  2. Father, let me not become history while I am still living, in the name of Jesus!
  3. Father, let me not become a negative example, in the name of Jesus!
  4. Father, let me not go into slumber in a sinking boat, in the name of Jesus!
