FIRE SCRIPTURE: 2 Samuel 3:22-30 (KJV)

22 And, behold, the servants of David and Joab came from pursuing a troop, and brought in a great spoil with them: but Abner was not with David in Hebron; for he had sent him away, and he was gone in peace.

23 When Joab and all the host that was with him were come, they told Joab, saying, Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away, and he is gone in peace.

24 Then Joab came to the king, and said, What hast thou done? behold, Abner came unto thee; why is it that thou hast sent him away, and he is quite gone?

25 Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou doest.

26 And when Joab was come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, which brought him again from the well of Sirah: but David knew it not.

27 And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.

28 And afterward when David heard it, he said, I and my kingdom are guiltless before the Lord for ever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner:

29 Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father’s house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue, or that is a leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth on the sword, or that lacketh bread.

30 So Joab, and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.

MFM Devotional For Today 2023 MESSAGE:

From the Fire Scripture for today, we read about the curse David issued upon Joab that brought calamity upon his generations. Generational Curses describe the cumulative effects upon people of the evils perpetrated by their ancestors, believed or practised in the past. It is the consequence of an ancestral action, belief and sin being passed down to their descendants.

Our family histories and baggage impact upon who we are as a people, whether we like it or not. In 2 Samuel 3:27-29 which we read above, five brutal curses were pronounced on Joab: persistent sore, the Hebrew word used is zub which also means to pine away, to waste away or to die, leprosy, lameness, violent death and poverty.

A generational curse brings suffering to a people of the same lineage. It brings problems like delay in marriage and child bearing, poverty, hardship, divorce, affliction, untimely death, insanity, non-achievement, failure and many other calamities.

Generational problems come in different ways into a family. It could be through various forms of sins and iniquity, idolatry, murder, disobedience, wicked acts, etc. Beloved, you can be liberated from generational curses in the following ways: (1) Identify the curse or curses running in the family. (2) Identify the source through inquiry prayers (3) Repent and renounce your involvement in the problem and what caused it. (4) Remove every material of ancestral bondage in your possession. (5) Cry to God, cast the devil out and break the curses (6) Go for corporate deliverance programme so as to be helped by higher anointing (7) Declare your victory and live a holy life ever after.

The blood of Jesus is very potent and effective in breaking generational curses. Break the generational curse with the precious and liberating blood of Jesus. Bind the demons that are enforcing them in your life and cast them out in the mighty name of Jesus. Remember that whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven. Finally, command all generational curses working against your life and destiny to turn to generational blessings. The moment you successfully break generational curses working against your life, you will begin to enjoy divine favour and all round fulfilment, in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Foundational problems stealing away my blessings, be burnt to ashes, in the name of Jesus.
2. O Lord, lay Your hands of protection upon me and my family, in the name of Jesus.
3. O Lord, close every entrance of the enemies into my life and my family, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. Holy Ghost fire, destroy every evil monitoring gadget put in place to spy on me and my family, in the name of Jesus.
5. Blood of Jesus, paralyse the link between my family and the evil family strong man, in the name of Jesus.
6. Wind of disgrace and shame, cover those that want to petition me and my family for evil, in the name of Jesus.
7. Every evil secret agent working against me and my family be exposed and scatter, in the name of Jesus.
