TOPIC – Jesus: Our Propitiation (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Daily Devotional 6 April 2021)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Judges 19-21

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 2:12-20 (KJV)

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

MEMORY VERSE: “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;” – Romans 3:24-25

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Christ our propitiation is available for all who seek Him.

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
CHRIST’S PROPITIATORY SACRIFICE OVER YOU WILL NOT BE IN VAIN, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

The MESSAGE:

The death of Christ turns away the wrath of God. Apostle Paul said that Christ is our propitiation. By this, he made reference to what Christ did on our behalf before God. Through His atoning sacrifice and finished work on the cross at Calvary, Christ assuaged or pacified God and made Him to remove His wrath from us.

The Bible affirms that God gave His Son as a means of the propitiation. 1 John 2:2 underscores it, “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” Similarly, the Bible says, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10). God could not let sin go as a mere slip away. He demanded the atonement and provided it. Hebrews 2:9 adds this, “It was by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.”

According to the New Testament, propitiation refers to the act of getting rid of sin which has come between God and man. The blood of Jesus satisfies the just requirements of God’s holy law which mankind broke, pays the penalty for man, and thus removes that which had separated between a holy God and sinful man: sin, its guilt and penalty.

The LORD God set forth His Son, the Lord Jesus, as the One who would be the satisfaction for our sins. Because God is satisfied with the payment of the sin debt, His wrath is turned aside, away from the believing sinner. Christ absorbed the wrath of God on our behalf. He bore our punishment as our substitute.

God sent His one and only begotten Son who lived and died for our sins. With Christ’s death on the cross, the sinner who believes Him is acquired. He is our expiatory sacrifice that satisfied the righteousness of God. His death paid our debt in full and our holy God was satisfied.
