2 And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.

3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.

4 And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:

5 For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.

6 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:

7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.

8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

10 And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.

MFM Devotional For Today 2024 MESSAGE:

On many occasions, the Bible reveals how men and women who demonstrated genuine faith in God got divine attention and life-changing visitation. One of such characters was the centurion. In the ninth verse of the Fire Scripture for today, Jesus commended the centurion’s faith. He said, ” have not found such GREAT FAITH, not even in Israel.” What was so GREAT about the centurion’s faith? First of all this man understood the importance of adding humility to his faith (vv. 6-7). Here was a commander in the Roman army humbling himself to receive from Jesus. Many in high positions would never think of humbling themselves to receive something. He acknowledged that he was not worthy that Jesus should do anything for him. Some people have ignored this key ingredient of humility and have come up with arrogant attitude of “God, you owe me.”

Why did the centurion describe himself as unworthy? He realised his religious belief was contrary to that of the God of Israel. Consequently, he was not worthy that Jesus should come to his house. He was honest enough with Jesus and with himself. The centurion also acknowledged the supreme authority of Jesus and subjected himself to it. Jesus must have been impressed because men and women of authority (the Pharisees, Sadducees, heads of the temple as well as leaders) in His days were known to be proud and power-drunk. Many at that time were still opposing Jesus and His ministry. Finally, the centurion understood the divinity of Jesus and that His authority transcends the physical or human plain. Beloved, whenever you demonstrate genuine faith, you will activate the anointing of the vessel of God and get a miracle or blessing.

What kind of faith do you have? Is it the centurion’s kind of faith: humbling, unwavering and acknowledging the sovereignty of God and His unfailing power to turn the worst situation to the best? That is the kind of faith Jesus will commend and reward. Is there a problem that wants to bring shame to you? Only the centurion kind of faith can save the day! Declare the almightiness of God over the situation, exercise the great faith of the centurion, and use your authority as a believer. You will see the awesome power of God!

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. Thou spirit of pride in my life, die, in the name of Jesus.

2. Anointing to pursue Jesus’ healing power, fall upon me, in the name of Jesus.

3. Thou spirit of doubt in my life, die, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

4. Authority and power to cast out demons in the name of Jesus, possess my life, in the name of Jesus.

5. Power of faith and humility, fall upon me, in the name of Jesus.

6. I shall not come to Jesus and return empty-handed, in the name of Jesus.

⁠7. My life, begins to operate in the miraculous, in the name of Jesus.
