TOPIC: Great Faith (2) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Devotional 7 October 2024)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Jeremiah 15, Jeremiah 16, Acts 2, Acts 3.

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Matthew 15:21-28 (KJV)

21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.

27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

MEMORY VERSE: “Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

MFM Devotional For Today 2024 MESSAGE:

Another Bible character whose faith Jesus commended as great was the Canaanite woman. Moved by motherly concern and compassion for her demon-possessed daughter, the woman had cried to Jesus for mercy and help. Jesus, the embodiment of compassion and mercy, answered her not a word! His disciples even made the matter worse for the woman by saying that Jesus should send her away. Faith that has gone through tests and trials and prevailed is the genuine faith.

Jesus said to the woman in today’s text, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” What was so great about this woman’s faith? Our answer lies in closely examining what the woman went through when her faith was subjected to divine test. When Jesus eventually responded to the woman’s demands, His responses were humiliating, annoying and discouraging. First, Jesus, who knew the woman’s nativity (she wasn’t a Jewess), told her that He was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel. Yet, the women persisted by worshipping Him. By faith, she scaled the first hurdle. Jesus gave her a second text when He said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and give it to little dogs.” Calling the woman and her daughter little dogs was derogatory and would have enraged some people, but not this woman. Her reply was, “You’re right Lord (she still referred to Jesus as Lord), little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their master’s table.” To her, if she was not qualified for the king size miracle that a Jew or Jewess (believer) deserves, she was sure that a smaller measure coming from the Lord would settle her daughter’s case. Her doggedness, patience, humility, perseverance, persistence and rock-like faith impressed Jesus who said, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.”

You and I have a lot to learn from this woman. First, she pleaded for mercy. Second, she kept her gaze on Jesus, the miracle worker, as she pleaded her case. Third, she did not argue with the Master and was not offended by the way she was described. Fourth, she worshipped the Lord. Finally, she walked in extreme humility and great faith against all odds. You will not fail the examination on faith, in Jesus’ Name.
