21 In those days, while Mordecai sat in the king’s gate, two of the king’s chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay hands on the king Ahasuerus.

22 And the thing was known to Mordecai, who told it unto Esther the queen; and Esther certified the king thereof in Mordecai’s name.

23 And when inquisition was made of the matter, it was found out; therefore they were both hanged on a tree: and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king.

MFM Devotional For Today 2024 MESSAGE:

Mordecai reproved the unfruitful works of darkness. He was in his workplace and two of his fellow palace officials, Bigthana and Teresh were angry with the king and so were planning his assassination. They must have started it as a gossip, a simple harmless workplace gossip, in which they will be looking for an accomplice in the person of Mordecai. They must have painted the king black in the presence of fellow staff, wanting everybody in the office to also hate the king. They must have even left their seats to Mordecai’s seat to make the gossip sweeter. Thank God for Brother Mordecai, he never gave in to their evil. He showed them that he was of a different breed, a true son of Zion, redeemed from the corruption of the world. He never joined multitude to do evil. He would never inherit another person’s enemy. He would never hate someone just because another person hates them. “And the thing was known to Mordecai, who told it unto Esther the queen; and Esther certified the king thereof in Mordecai’s name”- (Esther 2:22).

Someone once told me the testimony of a Christian sister who was like Mordecai in her office. He said that whenever anyone is coming to the sister to gossip about anyone, she would immediately ask if such a person could repeat the same words in the presence of the person being gossiped, immediately she says that, that was going to be the end of the gossip. He said, sometimes, if you come to her with gossip, she would point the attention of the person to the good side of the person being gossipped about and advise such to give them the benefit of doubt. She will never allow backbiting around her. She dared to be different.

It is amazing how in some workplaces, it is so-called Christians that will plot the downfall of their fellow Christian co-workers. They are the ones that you will find at the seat of backbiting. How can an unbeliever find it so easy to bring gossip to your table? It is because they know that you will buy it easily.

Beloved, we need to repent and truly repent. If there are no people available to listen to gossips and backbiting, those things will die on arrival.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. Root of bitterness in my life against anyone, die by fire, in the Name of Jesus.
  2. Envy and jealousy in my spirit, die by fire, in the Name of Jesus.
  3. As I go out today, I refuse to misuse my tongue, in the Name of Jesus.

EVENING

  1. I decree that I am crucified with Christ; sin shall not have dominion over me, in the Name of Jesus.
  2. Works of the flesh manifesting in any area of my life, die by fire, in the Name of Jesus.
  3. Property of hell fire in my life, catch fire, roast to ashes, in the Name of Jesus.
  4. Love of Christ, fill my heart, in the Name of Jesus.
