FIRE SCRIPTURE: Psalm 1:1-6 (KJV)

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

MFM Devotional For Today 2023 MESSAGE:

Your association, your company, your group of friends and acquaintances say so much about you, your character, attitude and accomplishments. That is, notwithstanding who you are and what you desire to become, your relationships can either make or mar your attitude and altitude in life. The Bible also affirms that to move with the wrong set of people for any reason is to walk into destruction with your eyes open.

The fire scripture for today starts with the warning of, “don’t walk, stand or sit”, in the midst of these wrongfully charged persons. Why? You may end up being affected and afflicted. It could even lead to you separating camp with the Lord. This automatically withdraws a person from the place of blessedness to the place of wretchedness.

The Psalmist started by declaring the blessedness of the man who does not go with the wrong company. Immediately, he stated the three areas involved, that such a man should avoid: first, avoid walking in their counsel. Walking in their counsel means heeding their advice or doing their bidding. No wonder, the Bible calls them “the ungodly”. Next, you are warned not to “stand” in the way of sinners. This implies that you should not be of the same behaviour with them. Standing in their way shows you’re not just walking but have started to do what they also do, oftentimes contrary to God’s way. Thirdly, the Bible warns you against ‘sitting” with the scornful, the mockers, those who do nothing but ridicule others in other to pull them down. What a wrong place to be!

Beloved, you must know and maintain your correct position and association, so that you’re not found among blockers and drainers of blessing. Are you there already? Make every effort to retrace yourself and come out from among them according to scriptures in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.

How do you do this? Repent of your wrong company, confess all known sins, decide to come out and never be involved again. Ask God for grace to be on His side and be divinely connected.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. O Lord, separate me from the wrong company with Your fire, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Any seen or unseen negative connection between me and wrong association, be disconnected and cut off now, in the name of Jesus.
  3. O God, arise and connect me with men after Your heart, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

  1. I shall not walk, stand or sit with negatively inclined people, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Agenda of wickedness to hold me down with blockers and drainers of blessing, be destroyed, in the name of Jesus.
  3. Father Lord, if I am wrongfully positioned, take me away and position me correctly, in the name of Jesus.
  4. My life, begin to divinely attract favourable attention and persons, in the name of Jesus.
