BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Chronicles 7-10

57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple:

58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.

59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.

MEMORY VERSE: “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.” – 2 Corinthians 9:6

The most truly generous persons are those who give silently without hope of praise or reward.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
I REBUKE DEVOURERS IN EVERY AREA OF YOUR LIFE, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

Mountain Top Life MESSAGE:

We began the study and devotion on the results of faithful giving yesterday. Now you know that faithful giving will bring inestimable blessings to your life here on earth and in eternity. You should also be making a decision to increase your giving to the Lord. Let us examine more results or blessings of faithful giving.

Giving will release the power of God upon you. It will enlarge your capacity to receive great things and beautiful blessings of God (2 Corinthians 9:8, 11). Giving will give you joy and happiness (2 Corinthians 9:7). Do you give grudgingly or under pressure? Are you consistent in your giving or you do it once in a while? Are you stingy and tight fisted? You need to turn a new leaf.

Let me also share with you some biblical examples of faithful givers and what they got. The widow of Zarephath gave sacrificially and faithfully to Prophet Elijah. It was the last meal for her and her son during the terrible famine in the land. Her faithful giving brought her miraculous supply through Elijah and they never lacked again during the famine (1 Kings 17:7-16). The wealthy Shunammite woman generously and faithfully offered hospitality and care to Prophet Elisha. God ended age-long barrenness in her life and gave her a son through the ministry of Elisha (2 Kings 4:8-10). Joseph of Arimathea offered up his tomb freely for Jesus’ burial. Nobody asked or coerced him. He lay Jesus’ body in it, rolled a stone in front of it and went away. He was so sacrificial and faithful in his giving that he was not expecting anything in return (Matthew 27:57-60). Lastly, the church in Macedonia, though poor and would have been justified for not giving, gave faithfully and generously so much that they were commended in the Bible (2 Corinthians 8:1-5). All these examples are worthy of emulation.

Remember you are the one that benefits when you give faithfully. The Bible says you should lay up your treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19). But then, if you do not know Christ, you can’t give to Him. You must receive His own gift first which is the gift of eternal life before you give Him your own. God bless you as you do this, in Jesus’ name.
