TOPIC: How To Be Your Brother’s Keeper (I) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, Mountain Top Life 26 April 2021)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 81, 88, 92-93

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Luke 10:29-36

29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

MEMORY VERSE: “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.” – Matthew 9:36

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Whosoever loves his brother lives in the light.

PRAISE WORSHIP: Take a worship song as led by the Holy Spirit

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY:
THE LORD WILL EMPOWER YOU TO BE YOUR BROTHER’S KEEPER, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

Mountain Top Life MESSAGE:

Our Fire Scripture for today reveals a story that Jesus narrated to communicate the truth to us about being our brother’s keeper in the midst of challenging situations in life. The story in the text reveals a surprising trajectory because the people that were in the position to help the man that was attacked by robbers did not help him. A priest ignored him, a Levite too, a Samaritan rescued him from his ordeal.

The Bible did not tell us about the nativity of the man that fell among the robbers, but it says the man journeyed from Jerusalem. There is a probability that he was a Jew. The priest and the Levites were supposed to be Jews, yet they ignored him. It was the Samaritan who was supposed to show a sign of hatred towards a Jew that saved the man.

Is this biblical incident, not playing out among Christians today? It is. A Christian ignores another Christian in trouble, and it is an unbeliever that sometimes rises up to the occasion and provides succour for the Christian. We are the body of Christ. We should feel the pain and agony of our fellow Christians. Anytime you don’t feel the pain of other Christian sister/brother, you need to check yourself and confirm if you are still part of the body of Christ. Be your brother’s keeper in words, action, deeds, habits, attitude, behaviour, kindness, faithfulness and goodness.

Our Christianity must go beyond just speaking. You must add good deeds, good habits and good character to Christians and everybody that crosses your path.
