MEMORY VERSE: “And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.” – Ephesians 4:23

The MESSAGE:

Set your mind on the things of the Spirit. Life in the spirit has a lot to do with our ‘mind set’. When our minds are set on the things of the Spirit, we will discover a life full of peace, but when it (mind) is set on the things of the flesh, we will experience hostility toward God (Romans 8:6-8). The mind set of flesh is enmity against God which is death.

Those with their minds set on the flesh are not in submission to God’s law, they are rebellions, they are the captains of their own souls –they do their will and not God’s will. The unsaved person who sets His mind on the things of the flesh is a spiritual corpse. He has no life in him (Ephesians 2:1-7). He cannot live a godly and righteous life, because of his nature. He is not motivated or empowered by God.

Those who are of the spirit cannot bear fruits except through Christ. We have to abide in Christ (John 15:1-5), branches can only bear fruits when they abide in the vine. Our mindset is such that what we are directs how we think, how you think directs how you behave, and how we bahave directs the outcome of our lives. The implication of this is that: we are what we think of ourselves.

The good news for the believer is that lure of the flesh has no power over the one whose mind is set on the things of the Spirit, that is one who has been renewed by the power of the Holy Spirit in Christ Jesus. But this requires very deep commitment of our being. Matthew 6:21. It is a reorientation of your thoughts, desire and inspirations. Your thoughts needs to be trained to stay focused on the things that the Spirit produces such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Normally your thoughts can wander towards jealousy, envy, anger, sensuality, immortality and idolatry (Galatians 5:19-21) but you have been called as Paul says ‘to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). This means that you talk to God daily (prayer), dwell on the things that are true, honourable, just, lovely, commendable, excellent and praise worthy (Philippians 4:8).

Reject wrong thoughts as they enter your mind –Do not negotiate, disregard and reject them. Most importantly this requires a total turn around –turn your eyes and ears from the things of the world.

1. O Lord, cleanse the soiled part of my life, in the name of Jesus.
2. Father, refresh every dry area of my life, in the name of Jesus.
3. O Lord, heal me of every spiritual wound that I have sustained, in the name of Jesus.

4. O Lord, bend every evil rigidity in my life, in the name of Jesus.
5. O Lord, realign every satanic straying in my life, in the name of Jesus.
6. O Lord, let the fire of the Holy Ghost warm every satanic freeze in my life, in the name of Jesus.
7. O Lord, give me a life that kills death, in the name of Jesus.
