Topic: TEACH THEM TO RESPECT THE ANOINTED

Memory Verse: Psalm 105:15 – Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. Psalm 105:15
Bible Reading: Psalm 105:14-15

Message: … Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. Psalm 105:15

In the above passage, no age limitation was mentioned. God didn’t say, “Elders, touch not my anointed …” and then say, “Children you can do what you like with the anointed”. Teach the people around you – both young and old, to respect the anointed. When a child touches a hot iron, it doesn’t go cold simply because it was touched by a child; the child will be burnt just as an adult would have been. The anointing is not something to toy with at all. Many young people have evoked curses upon themselves because they did not respect the anointed. If the anointed one knew all the cases, maybe he would have been able to intercede for them, but many a time, he or she is not even aware that some young people may have ridiculed him; the fire would just go to work.

Children are not exempted from suffering the consequences of attacking God’s anointed in word or deed. In 2 Kings 2:23-24, some children insulted the anointed of God and died instantly. Please teach your children not to join others in mocking anyone, not to talk of men or women of God. If you read Numbers 16:1-35, you will see that those who attack the anointed of God could die suddenly. Teach your children, no matter how young or old they may be, never to disrespect the anointed because it could cost them their lives.

David was a man who respected the anointed. When Saul was seeking to kill David and the latter had an opportunity to take his life, he chose not to. His parents had taught him to respect the anointed and you can see that in 1 Samuel 16:19-20. That is why even though the Bible says that there were wars about him from side to side (1 Kings 5:3), he did not die in battle; rather, he died a natural death when he was old.

Don’t let your children play with fire; teach them that the anointed must be respected. Even when the anointed is wrong, it is not their duty to mete out punishment to the fellow. Leave God to punish His servant Himself.

Hymn: Through The Love of God Our Saviour
Points: There is no age limit to those who must not touch the anointed of God
Bible in one year: Psalms 18, Psalms 19

Title: Through the Love of God Our Saviour.
Chorus: null.

  1. Through the love of God our Saviour,

All will be well;
Free and changeless is His favour,
All, all is well:
Precious is the blood that healed us;
Perfect is the grace that sealed us:
Strong the hand stretched forth to shield us,
All must be well.

  2. Though we pass through tribulation,

All will be well;
Ours is such a full salvation,
All ,all is well:
Happy still in God confiding;
Fruitful if in Christ abiding;
Holy through the Spirit’s guiding;
All must be well.

  3. We expect a bright tomorrow;

All will be well;
Faith can sing through days of sorrow,
All, all is well:
On our Father’s love relying,
Jesus every need supplying,
Or in living or in dying,
All must be well.
